About Starter Wiki

Better technical decisions, with the evidence attached.

Starter Wiki is an independent developer decision index. It turns sprawling tool research into a focused path from the task, to the right solution route, to a defensible choice.

Research should end in a decision.

Developers do not need another directory of logos. They need to know what fits their situation, what it will cost them in control or complexity, and what would justify a different path.

Starter Wiki begins with a development task, identifies the meaningful solution routes, and reduces the candidate set to options that represent a real decision. Tool and stack pages then carry that judgment forward instead of restarting the research process.

From open question to useful recommendation.

  1. 01

    Start with the job

Frame the developer decision before comparing products. A tool is useful only in the context of a real task.

  2. 02

    Narrow the routes

Separate genuinely different solution models, then remove options that do not change the decision.

  3. 03

    Make the trade-off visible

State the useful default, who it is for, and the condition that should make a team choose differently.

  4. 04

    Attach the evidence

Connect consequential claims to official documentation, current product information, and clearly labeled external experience.

The rules behind the index.

Decision value over volume

We would rather explain a small, defensible set of options than publish a long list that leaves the reader with the same research burden.

Scope before certainty

A recommendation is only useful when its audience, assumptions, and failure conditions are explicit.

Primary sources for product facts

Capabilities, pricing, policies, and limits should be grounded in the product’s own current documentation.

Independent judgment

Listings and rankings are not for sale. Commercial relationships, if introduced, must never determine the recommendation.

The reader is the customer.

Starter Wiki is not affiliated with the products listed in the index. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Inclusion reflects decision relevance, not payment, popularity alone, or a need to fill a category.

Recommendations are designed to shorten research, not replace the primary documentation required for implementation, security, legal, or purchasing decisions.
