Four APM routes

Datadog and New Relic share a full-stack suite route; the other routes prioritize open standards, high-cardinality investigation, or an existing error workflow.

    Verify supported runtimes, OpenTelemetry path, auto-instrumentation, custom spans, context propagation, and deployment ownership.13

Sentry can connect performance spans to the issue-centric application context a team already uses.

Verify: Do not treat this as a substitute for general logging or infrastructure monitoring.5

Boundary: APM owns instrumented application requests, transactions, traces, services, latency, and field technical performance. Infrastructure resource metrics, external uptime checks, raw logs, and AI-specific traces remain separate decisions.
